Position Summary
Delta Health is seeking a dedicated Staff Occupational Therapist to join our Rehabilitation Services team. Under the supervision of the Rehabilitation Services Manager, this position is responsible for providing high-quality occupational therapy services to patients across the lifespan—from pediatrics to geriatrics. The primary goal of therapy is to enhance each patient’s functional abilities and support meaningful participation in daily activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and interpret evaluations, tests, and physician prescriptions to develop individualized occupational therapy treatment plans.
- Help patients develop, improve, or regain functional abilities through therapeutic programs involving daily living skills, manual activities, cognitive retraining, sensorimotor activities, and recreational or social exercises.
- Promote maximum independence by tailoring therapy approaches to each patient’s physical abilities, cognitive level, and personal interests.
- Support patient return-to-work goals by collaborating with employers, assessing workplace challenges, and recommending modifications or retraining as necessary.
- Evaluate patient progress, document outcomes, and adjust treatment programs accordingly.
- Participate in discharge planning and interdisciplinary care conferences with physicians, nurses, and social workers.
- Ensure continuity of care by creating and teaching home exercise programs, recommending necessary equipment, and arranging outpatient or home health follow-up.
- Maintain accurate documentation in patient and department records.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and uphold hospital policies.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow all safety and infection-control protocols.
- Conduct routine equipment maintenance and coordinate repairs as needed.
- Stay current with professional knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, and participating in professional organizations.
- Provide staff development and conduct in-service training as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and certification standards.
- Contribute to team goals and support departmental operations as required.
Required Education & Experience
- Current Occupational Therapy License issued by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.
- Valid registration and certification with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) .
- Previous experience in occupational therapy preferred.
- Strong knowledge of assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation techniques for physical and mental dysfunctions.
- Understanding of human behavior, performance, motivation, and psychological assessment.
- Skills in customer service, including needs assessment, quality standards, and patient satisfaction evaluation.
- Strong command of English, including grammar, composition, and clear communication.
- Knowledge of training principles and teaching methods for individuals and groups.
- BLS certification required.
