What are the responsibilities and job description for the Central Sterile Tech - Surgery - PRN position at Delta County Memorial Hospital?
As a Central Sterile Technician, you play a critical role behind the scenes, ensuring surgeons and clinical teams have perfectly sterilized instruments, trays, and equipment when it matters most. Your attention to detail directly impacts patient safety and surgical success.
What You’ll Do
· Prepare, clean, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment
· Decontaminate and reprocess instruments according to hospital and regulatory standards
· Assemble surgical trays, basin sets, and specialty carts for immediate use
· Load and operate sterilization equipment; monitor and document sterilization cycles
· Inspect instruments and packaging for cleanliness, defects, or malfunction
· Perform routine quality control testing to ensure sterilization equipment is functioning properly
· Label and track instruments with accurate sterilization dates
· Maintain inventory by ordering and restocking sterilization supplies
· Support operating rooms and clinical areas across the hospital
What You Bring
· High school diploma or GED
· At least six (6) months of experience in Sterile Processing or as an Operating Room Technician
· Central Service Processing Technician Certification (or willingness to obtain within one year)
· Knowledge of sterilization techniques, instruments, and equipment
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
