Position Summary
The Nutritional Services Aide supports daily food service operations by performing cashier, dishwashing, and stocking duties. This role helps maintain a clean, organized, and efficient cafeteria and patient food service environment while providing excellent customer service to staff, patients, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate cafeteria cash register and credit card machine; handle cash accurately and balance drawer.
- Set up, stock, and restock cafeteria items, refrigerators, and supplies.
- Assist customers in a polite and helpful manner.
- Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
- Monitor and record dish machine temperatures and follow sanitation procedures.
- Pick up trays from hospital units and check trays on the tray line for accuracy.
- Stock diet kitchens and grocery orders according to department procedures.
- Rotate stock, check expiration dates, and store items properly.
- Maintain cleanliness of food service equipment (coffee urns, tea makers, ice dispensers).
- Follow department policies for food safety, sanitation, and daily cleaning tasks.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One year of food service experience preferred (restaurant or institutional setting).
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Experience operating a cash register and credit card machine preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Prolonged standing and walking, often on wet floors.
- Frequent lifting of supplies up to 40 lbs.
- Pushing and pulling carts and equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet meal service deadlines.
PRN minimum requirement: 2 shifts per month, 1 holiday per year
