Position Summary
We are seeking a high-level Linux-focused System Administrator to support, maintain, and continuously enhance the CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) Linux environment across on-premise and cloud systems. This role spans virtual and physical environments and requires expertise in HPC workflows, automation, system patching, scripting, and cloud technologies (AWS/Azure).
The ideal candidate has strong Linux administration experience, thrives in engineering-driven environments, communicates clearly with technical and non-technical teams, and is passionate about automation and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Tasks
- Provide CAE Linux User Support: incident resolution, troubleshooting, and technical guidance
- Install and update CAE applications
- Monitor and maintain the overall health of the CAE Linux environment across virtual and physical systems (on-prem & cloud)
Weekly Tasks
- Deliver status updates to team leadership on progress, pending work, and roadblocks
Monthly Tasks
- Apply monthly system patches
- Enhance and maintain automation for:
- Application installation
- Network storage management
- User account management
Annual Tasks
- Collaborate with CAE leadership and business stakeholders to improve the CAE Linux environment and underlying infrastructure
What You’ll Be Working On
- CAE application installation and maintenance
- HPC job submission script updates and optimization
- System patching and maintenance
- Automation development (BASH, Python, Ansible, Terraform/CloudFormation)
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong Linux System Administration experience
- Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) experience (pre-processing, post-processing, solving workflows)
- Familiarity with High Performance Computing (HPC)
- Experience with AWS and Azure cloud environments
- Scripting: BASH, Python
- Containers & Orchestration: Kubernetes, Docker
- Automation Tools: Ansible, Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
- Experience with system patching and maintenance
- Strong communication, self-motivation, eagerness to learn, and continuous-improvement mindset
Desired Skills
- 3 years of Big 4 consulting experience (preferred)
- Stable work history supporting large enterprise organizations
