How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

Delta’s Pilot Learning team is seeking an individual who is passionate about project management and process improvement, particularly as it relates to the infrastructure and documentation that supports pilot training and development. This person will be involved in supporting a variety of project management and operational initiatives across the Flight Operations (Flight Ops) Learning ecosystem.

This role will support the coordination and documentation of projects that enable the Flight Ops Learning team and infrastructure. An understanding of project management methodologies, process improvement practices, stakeholder communication, and departmental documentation would be beneficial. Working across multiple concurrent initiatives, this position will assist in ensuring that project activities are tracked, communicated, and executed in alignment with the team strategy and project management ecosystem.

The successful candidate will coordinate and direct numerous project activities as defined by the Manager, Flight Ops Learning. Key focus areas of the role include:

  • Project Management ecosystem enhancement.
  • Department process documentation and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will possess the ability to work in a team environment and:

  • Work directly with the Manager, Pilot Learning to coordinate and direct numerous project activities.
  • Take a hands-on approach to preparing and communicating project performance, cost updates, and status reports.
  • Manage and drive strategic and process-focused initiatives that support the Flight Operations Learning infrastructure.
  • Prepare and assist with project documentation and team documentation.
  • Identify action items, capture existing processes, and identify future process improvements.
  • Update and leverage project management tools to provide visibility of strategy, timelines, communication, and success metrics.
  • Support the creation of operational dashboards and roadmaps relevant to various levels of leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Gather feedback and propose process improvement recommendations for optimal project outcomes.
  • Attend project planning meetings and provide meeting notes when applicable.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • The Co-op position requires a candidate to be enrolled as an undergraduate (sophomore or above) that has successfully completed a minimum of 30 semester hours.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and be able to maintain the minimum GPA.
  • Working as a Co-op does not guarantee a full-time opportunity upon graduation. This position is intended to provide you with educational and professional work experience to prepare you for the workforce.
  • This position requires you to work for 3 alternating semesters. You cannot actively take any courses (inclusive of online or in-person) and work as a Co-op at the same time, which may delay your graduation by 1-2 semesters.
  • Students must be able to complete 3 alternating rotations in Atlanta, GA in line with the schedule below:
    • Spring 2027 - 1st rotation
    • Fall 2027 - 2nd rotation
    • Summer 2028 - 3rd rotation
  • Strong organizational, project management, and personal management skills
  • Robust verbal and written communication skills at all levels
  • Ability to work well in teams
  • Currently must be enrolled full-time and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalent.
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Experience with professional or technical writing, user experience design, industrial design, or similar concentrations.
  • Experience with multi-tasking in a constantly evolving, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), liaising with both technical and non-technical professionals.
  • Outside-of-the-box thinking
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work well in teams.
  • Highly preferred: curiosity, sense of humor, willingness to try new ideas, and persistence in the face of adversity
  • Any work experience in project coordination, operations support, or business process documentation
  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies preferred but not required
  • Possess the ability to simultaneously balance and adjust scope, schedule, quality, and risks across multiple projects
  • Experience working with Microsoft SharePoint, Smartsheet, and project management tools preferred but not required
  • Basic coding skills in Python, SQL, and Excel
  • Able to handle day-to-day work challenges confidently, demonstrating flexibility and strong collaboration skills
