Network Infrastructure Engineer

Network Infrastructure Engineer | Location: Onsite, Jackson, MS | Contract

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Infrastructure Engineer to support and enhance enterprise networking environments within a government and large-scale enterprise context. This role involves designing, deploying, and maintaining modern data center, campus, identity-driven access, and network observability solutions, ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable network services aligned with modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Designs, implements, and supports Cisco ACI fabric components, including VRFs, Bridge Domains, EPGs, ESGs, L3Outs, contracts, and fabric policies, ensuring optimal data center network performance.
• Configures and maintains Cisco Nexus platforms operating in ACI mode, troubleshooting fabric health, endpoint learning, segmentation, and multi-tenant environments.
• Integrates Cisco ACI with virtualization and container platforms such as Red Hat OpenShift and Cilium/Isovalent environments to support modern application deployment.
• Configures and optimizes RoCEv2 for high-performance, low-latency workloads across data center networks.
• Deploys, manages, and supports Cisco Catalyst switching platforms and designs Cisco Software-Defined Access (SDA) environments, including wired and wireless fabric deployments.
• Manages SDA underlay and overlay networks, including authentication integrations, policy enforcement, and assurance operations.
• Configures and administers Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), including TACACS , endpoint profiling, and security policy management.
• Integrates Cisco Cyber Vision into network access control, segmentation, and asset visibility strategies to support security initiatives.
• Deploys and manages Cisco ThousandEyes, Cisco Cyber Vision, and Cisco DNA Spaces for network performance monitoring, OT/IoT asset discovery, and location analytics.
• Troubleshoots complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking issues involving VLANs, OSPF, BGP, STP, multicast, and related technologies.
• Supports enterprise security solutions, including Palo Alto Networks firewalls, and maintains network architecture diagrams, standards, and operational documentation.
• Participates in technology modernization efforts, platform upgrades, procurement activities, and statewide infrastructure initiatives.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• 15 years of experience in enterprise network engineering.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco ACI in production environments.
• Deep understanding of ACI architecture, including VRFs, Bridge Domains, EPGs, ESGs, L3Outs, and contracts.
• Experience integrating Cisco ACI with OpenShift, virtualization platforms, and container networking.
• Strong expertise with Cisco Catalyst switching and Software-Defined Access (SDA).
• Experience administering Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), including TACACS and policy-based network access control.
• Knowledge of Cisco ThousandEyes, Cisco Cyber Vision, Cisco DNA Spaces, or similar observability platforms.
• Advanced understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, QoS, network security, and enterprise networking best practices.
• Experience supporting Palo Alto Networks firewalls and security technologies.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and produce detailed documentation.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Cisco certifications such as CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Data Center, CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure, or CCIE Data Center.
• Palo Alto certifications including PCCSA or PCNSA.
• Experience with network automation tools like Python, Ansible, REST APIs, or Infrastructure as Code.
• Familiarity with container networking and virtualization platforms.
• Knowledge of NIST cybersecurity frameworks and government security standards.
• Prior experience supporting state government, public sector, or large enterprise environments.
