Wire Technician Dept: Rod and Wire
Position Description: This position is responsible for raw material prep, milling and drawing, and annealing for the manufacturing of wire to the desired router specifications
Essential Functions:
1. The capacity to set machines accurately.
2. Mechanical aptitude, ability to work with accuracy to precise measurements and settings.
3. Keep accurate measurement and manufacturing records.
4. Ensure product conforms to the router specifications and quality standards (e.g. diameter, surface finish,
minimal powder loss)
5. Knowledge of screening basics and ability to operate security screener.
6. Fill out routers to ISO requirements. Fill out revert tickets.
7. Ability to read chemistry analysis.
8. Support other areas within the Rod and Wire Department (e.g. deburring, linishing, material handling)
Typical duties and tasks:
1. Setting, milling, annealing, coiling, welding and testing of wire
2. Process wire using wire mill, annealer, and coiling M/c
3. Align check and set mill rolls measurement’s within 0.001” is required using a variety of precision
measuring instruments.
4. Fill out routers completely and accurately
5. Join and fettle wire joints using Butt and TIG welding
6. Ability to dismantle and replace mill stands and realign when required
7. Scrap out material using revert tickets
8. Weld test wire for QC testing
9. Assist in other areas of Rod and Wire Department when needed.
10. Maintain good housekeeping.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. High School diploma or GED
2. Ability to operate forklifts, work saver, and weighing equipment.
3. Ability to work with hand tools.
4. Ability to follow directions both written and communicated.
5. Ability to work to SOP and keep written records
6. Ability to learn new skills
7. Excellent Reliability and Accuracy
8. Flexible Team player
