What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dog Kennel Assistant position at Delighted Pets, Inc.?
Delighted Pets is a 5-star Canine Club located in Brewster. We offer daycare, grooming, training, and boarding. We're looking for a kennel assistant to join our team!
Schedule Requirements:
- Hours are from 7 AM - 3 PM.
- Ability to work indoors/outdoors in all weather.
- RELIABLE - ability to establish a recurring schedule with consistent punctuality.
Job Duties:
- Help unload/load dogs from the vans, monitor dogs during play, and put dogs in their kennels at the end of the day.
- Assist with the care and handling of dogs in the kennel room.
- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and common areas.
- Feed and provide water to the dogs according to their specific dietary needs.
- Administer medications as directed.
- Ability to take direction and multitask.
- Monitor the weight, health, and behavior of the dogs
- Report any observed changes or unusual behaviors.
- Desire to learn about canine behavior and dog training.
- Poop scooping and dog monitoring when the dogs need to be let out into the enlosed outdoor space.
Job Requirements:
- A strong love of and respect for dogs.
- Professional experience working with dogs. Owning your own dog is a plus!
- Minimum of 6 month commitment, as to not disturb our schedule or negatively impact the dogs by leaving.
- Standing for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Contract agreement - we are looking for long-term team members.
- Professionalism is key. We thrive on excellent customer service and communication!
Advantage for applications who:
- Know pet CPR
- Have experience in training
- Volunteer in animal shelters
- Have a valid driver's license
- Have experience driving Sprinter vans
- Worked in a grooming salon or vet’s office
- Live in Brewster or surrounding areas
- Operate on iOS
