We’re Hiring: Director of Finance & Accounting for a Mission Driven Food Service Company
Delicious Unlimited is on a mission to help children build healthy eating habits—one scratch-made meal at a time. Each day, we deliver over 30,000 fresh, nutritious meals to 300 daycare and school locations across Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin.
We’re seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting to lead all financial operations—accounting, cash management, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting—while partnering with our President to drive strategic growth. While responsible for hands on controller duties during monthly/yearly close and budgeting, this leader will shape financial strategy, ensure GAAP compliance, strengthen internal controls, and mentor a talented accounting team.
Accounting Management & Reporting
- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Hands on work with reconciliations and all standard accounting processes.
- Ensure compliance with financial, tax, and regulatory requirements
Cash Flow & Risk Management
- Monitor and manage cash flow and accounts receivable
- Maintain strong banking relationships, financial backers, insurance relationships, loan covenants and surety requirements.
- Provide accurate cash flow forecasts and financial insights for decision-making.
Systems & Controls
- Lead accounting system upgrades, migrations, and integrations
- Implement strong internal controls and approval workflows to safeguard assets and ensure compliance
Payroll, Depreciation & Compliance
- Oversee Paychex payroll, ensuring proper job and labor allocation, prevailing wage compliance
- Track equipment utilization, depreciation, and create plans for capex.
- Develop and enforce internal controls and policies for approvals, expense management, and compliance.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Supervise and develop accounting resources
- Serve as a key financial partner to the President, operations, and project teams, explaining results in practical terms.
- Support company growth with financial planning, capital investment analysis, and process improvement.
Ideal Background
- Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance (CPA or MBA preferred)
- 7 years progressive finance/accounting experience, including 3 in leadership
- Hands on experience with month end closing cycle and financial statements
- Food service or catering industry background a plus
- Strong Excel and ERP skills; bilingual English/Spanish a bonus
