This role ensures that all required information is obtained and documented prior to appointments and procedures, supporting smooth clinical operations and timely reimbursement. A high level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential.Key ResponsibilitiesVerify insurance eligibility and benefits for office visits and in office proceduresConfirm coverage details including deductibles, co-insurance, co-pays, and plan limitationsIdentify prior authorization requirements and communicate them to the appropriate team membersCollaborate with scheduling, precertification, and billing teams to address coverage concernsObtain referrals based on plan coverageDocument all benefit information clearly and accurately in the electronic medical recordCommunicate with insurance carriers through phone, web portals, and written correspondenceEscalate potential coverage issues or concerns as neededProvide patients with clear, accurate explanations of benefits when appropriateMaintain compliance with HIPAA and all internal policies and proceduresQualificationsPrevious experience in insurance verification, authorizations, or medical billing (multi-specialty experience preferred)Strong understanding of commercial and government insurance plansExceptional attention to detail and accuracyExcellent communication and customer service skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environmentProficiency with insurance portals and electronic medical recordsWhy This Role Is ImportantThe accuracy and thoroughness of insurance verification directly support both patient experience and the financial health of the practice.
