General Description of the Position
Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Repair and replacement of door locks and hinges.
- Perform general carpenter work in the alterations, repair and maintenance of buildings, doors, floors, windows ceilings, stairways, cornice and concrete forms.
- Perform hand and bench work in the carpentry shop, operate planers, joiners, drill presses, power saws and other woodworking machinery.
- Do rough finished arid form work.
- Report inventory records and maintain proper level of supply and materials.
- Prepare and prep surfaces and paint as needed.
Individuals in this job may be assigned one or more of the following tasks on a rotating or as-needed basis:
- Performs other associated duties as required.
- Employees in this class may lead laborers and other assistants.
The individual in this job must possess these skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation using some other combination of skills and abilities:
- Demonstrate ability to read and interpret blueprints or other written instruction.
- Oral and written instructions are received from supervisor who is responsible for the coordination of necessary work.
- Demonstrate ability to properly maintain arid care for tools and equipment use don job assignments.
- Demonstrate the ability to handle routine job assignments independently.
Qualification Standards
- High School Graduate and minimum of five years of actual successful experience.
- A minimum of five years actual work in trade.
- Demonstrate the ability to handle routine jobs assignments independently.
