What are the responsibilities and job description for the KC-46 MTS Lead Systems Administrator position at DELAWARE RESOURCE GROUP OF OKLAHOMA?
The Lead System Administrator will oversee the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of KC-46 Maintenance Training System (MTS) IT systems and infrastructure. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic thinking to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable systems supporting the KC-46 MTS Training System Support Center (TSSC) and Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) program personnel on all IT related support to maintain virtual training environment requirements. The ideal candidate will lead a team of system administrators, manage projects, and collaborate with stakeholders to align IT services with business needs. This position supports Air Force formal maintenance training through maintenance subject matter expertise and is 100% on-site. Daily and weekly work hours will be managed to meet training mission requirements.
Must be able to pass a background check for Military Installation and Facility Access.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of system administrators in daily operations, including system monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Ensure support of the Maintenance Training Subject Matter Expert (SME) technical team, instructors, and students with IT and network related issues.
- Ensure assistance is provided to instructors as needed in operation of all training devices.
- Ensure documentation and maintenance of discrepancies and corrective actions in forms binders and maintenance data collection system.
- Oversee design and implement system architectures, including servers, networks, storage, and cloud environments.
- Ensure system security through patch management, vulnerability assessments, and compliance with standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
- Manage backups, disaster recovery plans, and incident response to minimize downtime.
- Oversee software and hardware upgrades, migrations, and integrations.
- Develop and maintain documentation, policies, and procedures for system administration.
- Provide technical leadership on projects, including budgeting, vendor management, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Mentor junior staff and foster a collaborative team environment.
- Monitor system performance metrics and generate reports for leadership.
- Support other functions as needed
- A technical master’s degree with 7-10 years of hands-on related experience in system administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four-year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.
- At least 3 years of proven experience in a lead, supervisory, or team management role; experience in the defense, government contracting, or high-technology sector is strongly preferred.
- Defense industry system administration experience with knowledge of compliance frameworks.
- Proven track record managing enterprise-level systems (e.g., Windows/Linux servers, virtualization with VMware/Hyper-V).
- Experience with cloud platforms, containerization and automation tools.
- Familiarity with networking protocols, firewalls, and cybersecurity best practices.
Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.
