DNI is looking to hire a Personnel Security Assistant to support the CDC's Security Service Office/Personnel Security Branch. This branch is tasked with conducting vetting and making preliminary and final determinations regarding employment suitability and fitness for individuals applying to work with the federal government.
- Initiate background investigations using OPM's Electronic Questionnaires for Investigation Processing (e-QIP) system
- Develop, analyze, and maintain administrative operating processes and procedures
- Review the Optional Form 306, Declaration for Federal Employment
- Create, prepare, and edit correspondence, reports, and spreadsheets
- Execute all office records management tasks
- Schedule fingerprint appointments and fingerprint necessary applicants
- Assist with all administrative support actions related to the processing of Special Agreement Checks (SACs), National Agency Checks (NACs), and all Tier level investigations
- Track and log all adjudication actions received from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and DHHS
- Review security documents for completeness, accuracy, and for conformance to security procedures
- Verify the type of investigation required for the position sensitivity level being requested
- Respond to requests for information concerning background investigations, and to assist with preparing and tracking all Visit Authorization Requests (VARs) to be forwarded to other federal agencies
- Coordinate administrative tasks related to investigations with multiple persons in multiple offices and other federal agencies
Qualifications:
- A minimum of an associate degree or five (5) years directly related experience, combined with training courses relevant to duties and functions in performing administrative support functions
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in administrative, general office, or personnel suitability/security or a comparable discipline
- A working knowledge of personnel suitability/security theories, techniques, and practices
- Knowledge of applicable Executive Orders (E.O.s), Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs), Security Policy Board regulations, and other regulations relating to the Personnel Suitability/Security Program
- Knowledge of how to apply CFR adjudicative guideline
- Excellent skills in writing, customer service, time management, and communication skills
- Follow privacy and protection issues related to Personally Identifiable Information
- Be familiar with quality requirements of fingerprinting and be able to operate electronic fingerprint systems (CDC will provide on the job training of specific systems)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
