Primary Purpose:

Passionate about learning how to fix and troubleshoot computer equipment and accessories, with an interest in exploring more about technology. Strong communicator, both speaking and writing, and excited to share what I learn with others.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

 

Education/Certification:

  • Current Del Valle ISD high school student.
  • Candidates must have a satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. 

 

Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of technology terminology and concepts and willingness to learn.
  • Basic knowledge of appropriate use of hardware components, operating systems, software applications, and networking components and a willingness to learn. 
  • Know how to perform basic application functions.
  • Knows how to select, connect, and use a variety of input, output, and storage devices and peripherals.
  • Ability to work with others effectively
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written 
  • Ability to be productive in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks.

Professionalism 

The Educators' Code of Ethics is set forth in Texas Administrative Code to provide rules for standard practices and ethical conduct toward students, professional colleagues, school officials, parents, and members of the community

Instructional Management 

The contracted technology intern promotes improvement of instruction through activities such as the following: 

  • Assist DVISD staff in the use and integration of a variety of technology, including but not limited to, computers, printers, mobile devices, digital cameras, document cameras, LCD projectors, student response systems, learning management systems, and instructional software. 
  • Maintenance and support of technology to support instruction.

Organization Improvement 

The contracted technology intern works to improve the school or organization through activities such as the following: 

  • Maintain physical and computerized files on the inventory of software programs. 
  • Maintain inventory with responsibility of recording and maintaining accurate asset records in the district asset management system. 
  • Install a variety of computer programs following complex written instructions. 
  • Coordinate with district technicians for maintenance and repair of technology equipment. Assist with the installation, inventory, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of district equipment. 
  • Work with district staff to coordinate technology maintenance. 

Communication and Community Relations 

The contracted technology intern works to promote a positive tone for school or community relations through activities such as the following: 

  • Promote and assist with clear communication regarding technology support systems. 

Professional Growth and Development 

The contracted technology intern participates in professional growth and development through activities such as the following: 

  • Participate in campus and district technology staff development, faculty meetings, special events, and training programs to improve job performance. 

Qualities of an Effective Technology Assistant 

The contracted technology intern exhibits qualities such as the following: 

  • Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job. 
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, District, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers. 
  • Compile, maintain, and file reports, records, and other documents as required. 
  • Correct unsafe conditions in the work area that could cause an accident and inform the supervisor of any conditions that are not correctable immediately. 
  • Shall comply with District policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations. 
  • Shall comply with the standards of conduct set out in Board Policy DH (Legal) and (Local) and with any other policies, regulations, and guidelines that impose duties, requirements, and standards. 
  • Maintain confidentiality. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

None 

 

Equipment: 

Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and audiovisual equipment, adaptive equipment, digital camera, student response systems, learning management systems, printer, scanner, copier, fax and other equipment applicable to the position. 

Working Conditions
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors 

  • Maintain emotional control under stress. 
  • Work with frequent interruptions. 
  • Work irregular hours and extended work hours to include holidays and weekends. 
  • Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. 
  • Occasional light lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment. 
  • Occasional district wide and statewide travel. 
  • Use a computer for prolonged periods resulting in repetitive hand motion. 
  • Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination vibration. 
  • Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, etc.), work outside, work around moving objects or vehicles, work on uneven surfaces.
