What are the responsibilities and job description for the EVSE Compliance Engineer position at DEKRA?

The DEKRA Vehicle-grid Innovation Laboratory (ViGIL) will offer a range of state-of-the-art testing and certification services for electric vehicle manufacturers, suppliers, device manufacturers, electric vehicle charging station manufacturers, charging point operators, and service providers.
DEKRA is looking for a skilled and highly motivated individual to provide compliance and testing support in the areas of safety, and communications/controls protocol for the development of advanced charging equipment to establish and support operations at the newly DEKRA ViGIL initiative. This role will include testing with vehicle manufacturers and EVSE manufacturers.

What You'll Do:
- Establish DEKRA’s ViGIL Lab capabilities
- Develop and/or maintain Lab procedures for Vehicle-Grid charging products per applicable national and international standards
- Work w/ other team members in the specification and planning of test equipment purchases
- Integrate new test equipment into existing maintenance and calibration process
- Lead the development of test fixtures/jigs for charging products testing
- Define, plan, coordinate and execute applicable compliance tests
- Prepare, setup, and perform tests as defined in a compliance Test Plan
- Write test reports and maintain all compliance related technical documents
- Monitor relevant standards defining charging systems
- Obtain and/or maintain lab accreditations
What Makes a Great Candidate:
- Electrical Engineering or other relevant/equivalent technical training/minimum degree
- Hands on experience with testing and evaluating electrical equipment to national and international standards
- Hands-one experience with Keysight EV Simulators, Power sources and Grid Emulators, related Software test suites such as EVSE Test Bundles, TTCN framework etc. is a plus
- Proficiency in defining tests, setting up, and working with basic laboratory tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, signal generators etc.) on high power AC and DC equipment.
- Previous experience working, and interfacing with certification bodies and/or programs such as OCA, CharIN
- Experience with ISO 15118 and IEC IEC 61851-x standards
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics / Electronics and Communication / Industrial / Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Greater than 2 years of professional experience in Electrical Vehicle Charging field preferred
- Greater than 5 years of professional engineering or technical-related experience is preferred
Physical Considerations:
- Ability to move and conduct work with full range of motion.
- Ability to move equipment up to 130 lbs
- Extended periods of computer-based work
- Extended periods of standing
Travel Considerations:
- Domestic travel required, estimated up to 50%.
