A Day in the Life and the Impact You’ll Make:

DEKRA FME Services is a specialty company that provides oversight and monitoring services with highly skilled and qualified individuals who have been trained specifically in Foreign Material Intrusion Prevention. The FME Monitor assists workers in the power generation field in using appropriate work practices for Item/Tool Drop Prevention and working safely to prevent the intrusion of foreign materials into critical systems and equipment. 

This role offers potential for growth and advancement as well as the potential for future, seasonal project work with DEKRA.

What You’ll Do:

  • Contribute to a safe and healthy work environment by actively participating, taking responsibility, and following established procedures and policies.
  • Collaborate with nuclear, chemical, oil, gas and solar site personnel to establish zone setups in high-risk maintenance areas, ensuring compliance with specific parameters
  • Read and interpret formal documents (e.g., Administrative or Technical Procedures, Project Plans) and execute tasks accurately based on their requirements
  • Conduct pre-inventory checks and ongoing accounting for tools, supplies, and materials used during power facility maintenance
  • Assemble, maintain, and manage procedural and non-procedural logs while on-site, creating reports as needed
  • Coach site workers on Foreign Materials Exclusion (FME) and Drop Prevention techniques to prevent foreign material intrusion into critical systems
  • Monitor and manage personnel flow within maintenance zones
  • Perform housekeeping walk-downs, log audits, and FME zone boundary inspections to ensure compliance
  • Handle stressful situations professionally to maintain effective interpersonal relationships
  • Report FME integrity or cleanliness issues to supervisors, documenting cases where recovery plans are required
  • Conduct thorough written or verbal turnovers with team members to ensure clear communication of FME zone status.

    What You’ll Bring:

    • Expertise in establishing authority as the Subject Matter Expert for FME services, communicating professionally with site personnel
    • Commitment to safety protocols, including wearing proper personal protective equipment (e.g., hard hat, safety glasses, safety toe boots) and prioritizing safety as a core value
    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform tasks accurately, thoroughly, and neatly
    • Professionalism and integrity in handling all situations
    • Ability to meet client site access requirements such as drug screening and background checks
    • Currently holds or has submitted an application for a TWIC card (if required by project)

    • Work Schedule: Ability to work extended hours, night shifts, weekends, and consecutive days without breaks when required
    • Ability to:
      • Stand for prolonged periods in stationary positions
      • Ascend/descend stairs or ladders (including multiple flights)
      • Work in confined spaces such as tents or elevators for extended durations
      • Walk long distances (up to 5 miles/day) across rough terrain or within facilities
      • Move continuously between work locations to accomplish tasks effectively
      • Perform repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, or fingers
    • Physical Strength: Ability to lift or move tools, supplies, or materials weighing up to 50 lbs. in all directions
    • Flexibility: Ability to work safely at varying heights or in tight spaces with full range of motion as required by tasks
    • Environmental Conditions: Ability to work:
      • Indoors or outdoors in extreme temperatures or weather conditions (e.g., heat, cold, precipitation)
      • In noisy environments typical of industrial facilities

    Travel Requirements: 

    Due to the nature of working in the nuclear field, all candidates must be able to work in a variety of client locations, environments, and conditions.  The physical demands listed below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this job.     • Ability to work extended periods of time and shift work through evening, nights, and weekends and without days off when required
    • Ability to be on one’s feet - this includes:
      • remaining in a stationary position (often standing for prolonged periods)
      • ascending and/or descending stairs (potentially many flights of stairs)
      • climbing ladders to upper or lower elevations
      • ability to work in small areas such as tents or elevators for prolonged periods of time
      • walking long distances (from parking to facility, within and around the facility - up to 5 miles/day)
      • walking on rough and uneven terrain
      • walking through client work facilities
    • Ability to constantly move about to accomplish tasks or move from one work location to another
    • Ability to perform repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
    • Ability to lift, adjust and/or move tools, supplies, or materials up to 50lbs in all directions
    • Ability to occasionally move and conduct work with full range of motion in different body positions to accomplish tasks in various locations including tight and confined spaces
    • Ability to possibly remain in a seated, stationary position for prolonged periods
    • Ability to occasionally work safely at varying heights
    • Ability to work in varying environments which includes:
      • indoors or outdoors
      • extreme heat or cold and other outdoor elements such as precipitation and/or wind
      • noisy locations
    • Ability to withstand the rigors of extensive travel and/or extended periods of driving to travel to job locations

    Travel Considerations:

    • Must be willing to travel extensively, including driving long distances, for job assignments and internal training
    • Domestic and/or international travel may be required for extended periods

    What You’ll Receive for the Value You Bring:

    Compensation: 

    The base pay for this position is $22.00 per hour to $26.00 per hour. Actual pay is based on several factors including market location and position-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

    • Work Location: USA Based Remote/Telecommuter

    • FLSA Classification: Non-exempt; this position is eligible for overtime pay
