The DeKalb County Rehabilitation & Nursing Center is seeking an Accounting Clerk for its Business Office. This is a day shift position working full time (7.75 hours per day, 38.75 hour per week), Monday-Friday with some evenings/weekends possible.

The responsibilities of this position include:

• Complete and reconcile the daily census
• Maintain patient financial files, update accounts receivable information and verify benefits
• Prepare and submit billing for multiple payers
• Generate and distribute private pay statements
• Follow up on overdue accounts, coordinate collections activities
• Distribute and manage incoming mail
• Gather and input ancillary charges
• Deposit cash receipts and post payments
• Accounts receivable management
• Assist with the completion of Medicaid packets and Medicaid redeterminations
• Oversee Medicare Part B therapy authorizations
• Oversee appeals on claims denials (clinical appeals done by MDS Coordinator)
• Support regulatory audits as needed
• Assist residents and families with billing questions
• Oversee the follow up for insurance claims
• Provide cross-functionality with the other existing positions

Financial/accounting experience is preferred. Good communication and documentation skills are essential. Previous experience with Medicaid, Medicare, Insurance and nursing home billing/financials is preferred.
