What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1st Shift Key seating and Layout Machine set up Operator position at Deister Machine?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Safety glasses, steel toed shoes, and hearing protection required at all times.
· Grinding shield worn in proper position at all times while grinding.
· Reads blueprint or job order to determine dimensions and tolerances of work piece, and tooling instructions such as holding fixtures, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and cutting tools to be used.
· Measures work piece and scribes guidelines for cutting key seat.
· Mounts specified tool on ram.
· Lifts work piece and aligns it with cutting tool.
· Secures work piece in fixture or to post on machine table.
· Moves controls to set specified ram speed, length of stroke, and feed rate.
· Turns hand wheel to feed reciprocating tool to work piece until depth of cut conforms to specifications or engages automatic feeding device.
· Verifies conformance of machined work piece to specifications.
· Turns hand wheel or adjustment screw to tilt table to cut tapered key seats.
· Layout work piece for drilling and tapping
· Drill and tap holes
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and distance vision. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
