What are the responsibilities and job description for the Litigation Attorney position at DeHay & Elliston, LLP?
DeHay & Elliston, a nationally recognized litigation firm, seeks an experienced litigation attorney to join our east bay area office. This position requires a candidate who is an active member of the California State Bar with a minimum of ten years of experience as a litigation attorney, with priority given to attorneys with three to five years in asbestos defense.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Civil litigation or toxic tort/asbestos defense experience preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral.
- Excellent organizational, time management, research, and analytical skills.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to prioritize and proactively manage a large caseload.
- Ability and willingness to look at a problem from a new or different perspective and design a unique solution.
- Must have ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
- Experience in billing required.
Job Duties:
- Working up a case from initial client contact to trial (under the guidance of a supervising Partner).
- Preparing and responding to discovery.
- Preparing and arguing motions, including dispositive motions.
- Taking percipient and expert depositions.
- Trial preparation and support.

The good faith, annualized salary range for this position is $200,000 to $280,000 depending on the candidate's overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law such as, education, training, other responsibilities. The annual salary range listed is just one component of DeHay & Elliston’s total compensation and benefits package which includes a discretionary bonus, paid leave, health, dental, and life & disability insurance; in addition to our 401 (k) plan.
