Duties
- Lead the setup, calibration, and operation of injection molding machines, ensuring optimal performance and product quality.
- Supervise and mentor technicians on daily tasks, fostering a culture of safety, precision, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct routine inspections of molds, machinery, and tools to identify wear or defects; coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.
- Utilize programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to troubleshoot and optimize machine operations for maximum efficiency.
- Perform quality inspections using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Oversee materials handling processes including plastics extrusion, blow molding, and fabrication to support production needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation of production activities, machine maintenance logs, and quality reports.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, improve cycle times, and enhance overall productivity.
- Coordinate with warehouse staff for materials inventory management and proper storage of raw materials and finished goods.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols by operating forklifts safely and adhering to all workplace safety regulations.
- Support continuous training initiatives for team members on new equipment, tools, or process improvements.
Requirements
- Proven experience in plastics injection molding with a strong understanding of plastics blow molding, extrusion, and fabrication techniques.
- Mechanical knowledge related to machining processes such as CNC lathes, press brake machines, CNC machines, hand tools, and other fabrication equipment.
- Proficiency with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for troubleshooting machine automation issues.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely; forklift certification is preferred.
- Familiarity with quality inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, micrometer gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to streamline operations and eliminate waste.
- Experience in materials handling within a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Strong basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and process adjustments.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude combined with hands-on skills in assembly and fabrication tasks.
- Effective communication skills to lead a team and collaborate across departments.
- Prior experience working with plastics extrusion or blow molding processes is a plus.
