This position is part of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating agency-level information security programs and strategies, including security access management, cloud computing, and enterprise security risk management. It also requires reviewing new system designs for security risks and resolving integration issues within the existing infrastructure.

Qualifications:

You may qualify at the GS-15, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Plans, develops, and coordinates agency-level information assurance or information security programs and strategies, e.g., security access management, cloud computing, system consolidation, virtualization, security situational awareness, enterprise security risk management, and other emerging innovative security technologies. Reviews proposed new systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks. Resolves integration issues related to the implementation of new systems within the existing infrastructure.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Responsibilities:

As a SUPERVISORY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) at the GS-2210-15 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Directs, develops, and oversees the agency's Cyber Security, Information, and Technology program, formulating program initiatives in response to critical IT security issues, and implementing new and emerging security technologies.
  • Plans, develops, and coordinates the agency-wide implementation of IT security strategies to protect the IT infrastructure and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) and Zero Trust Architecture.
  • Provides leadership and supervision to a subordinate staff of cybersecurity professionals by assigning work, developing performance plans, and overseeing technical and administrative activities, including managing staff resources, budget, and contracts.
  • Serves as the recognized IT security subject matter expert and primary advisor on cybersecurity matters, representing the agency and speaking for the Director in dealings with key internal and external stakeholders on security plans, programs, and policies.
  • Advises leadership on IT security issues to align technology-related decisions, providing solutions for a broad range of complex information technology security management issues.
  • Manages cybersecurity budgets and oversees IT security investments to ensure prudent portfolio management and effective resource allocation.
