Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.
The SOE And Minimum Qualifications For This Position Is
Physical Effort
Work assignments require moderate physical effort. Employees frequently lift, carry, or otherwise handle items weighing up to 50 pounds. Assistance is usually available with heavy items. They may work in a sitting position for extended periods. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching and stooping is required. Occasionally, climbing and work in high places may be required.
Working Conditions
Work is performed under shop conditions in an adequately lighted, heated and ventilated warehouse. Subject to loud noises, heat, cold, fumes, dirt, grease and the possibility of cuts, bruises, and injury when using tools and testing equipment. There is the hazard. of electrical shock and bums from high voltage currents. Incumbent may be required to work outdoors.
Safety and Health Requirements: Employee is required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for the job and work area where assigned, as directed by the supervisor. Types of protective clothing and equipment include, but are not limited to the following: eye, respiratory, and foot protection and protective clothing such as gloves, apron, and coveralls. Other types may be required as deemed necessary by authorized management officials. If employee works near or around noise hazardous areas, machinery, or equipment, the employee will be required to wear approved hearing protective devices and an audiometric test will be conducted, as necessary.

- Tests, analyzes, repairs, reconstructs a wide variety of highly complicated electronic, Automatic Data Processing (ADP), and electro-mechanical equipment; and specialized integrated and programmable systems and components.
- Modifies, and relocates existing systems to include system layouts as documented in drawings, mechanical, electrical.
- Accomplishes component repairs and modifications to the micro-chip level.
- Maintains, repairs, services, and implements modifications on computer controlled material handling systems, components and related communication and data processing support systems.
- Examples of systems mentioned above: encoders, decoders, interface circuits, serial to parallel data converters, and various input and output devices.
- Uses blueprints, schematics, ladder diagrams, program listings, input/output assignment work sheets, manufacturer’s manuals, and other technical guidance material carry out and successfully complete work.
