Basic Requirements
Time-in-Grade: For the GS-15, Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-1 or higher grade in Federal Service.
For the GS-15, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-14 if outside the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as: Leading the integration of multiple security disciplines to include Personnel, Physical, Communication Security, Operations Security, and Information Security into a unified enterprise security program; and Analyzing and evaluating emerging security risks and implementing strategies to safeguard mission-critical information and resources in accordance with applicable security requirements; and Providing technical advice to senior leaders on security matters impacting employment, access, and national security interests.
You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

- Responsible for DoW CIO security disciplines to include personnel security, physical security, communications security (COMSEC), information security (INFOSEC), and Operations Security (OPSEC) to ensure coordinated approach to mission protection.
- Advises the DoW CIO and senior leadership as the principal authority on enterprise security matters affecting the protection of personnel, facilities, information, and systems supporting CIO operations.
- Leads the DoW CIO Personnel Security Program and interprets policies governing eligibility for access to classified information.
- Evaluates personnel security determinations, insider threat considerations, foreign travel reporting, and continuous evaluation requirements.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of security program implementation, identifies vulnerabilities and potential mission impacts, and recommends corrective actions and risk mitigation strategies to address emerging threats and compliance issues.
