Defense Flooring is a specialty flooring contractor based in Virginia Beach and a division of Specialty Group. We install resilient flooring, epoxy, urethane cement, and polished concrete in military, government, aviation, and commercial facilities, including active Navy bases. Our work is built on three things: service, integrity, and excellence.
We are growing our Resilient Flooring team and need an experienced installer who can do the work right, run a small job, and help train the next group of installers coming up.
What you will do
- Install LVT/LVP, VCT, and commercial carpet tile to our quality standards and the manufacturer's specs
- Handle floor prep: patching, leveling, and moisture testing before install
- Run small jobs on your own without a foreman on site
- Train and guide Installer 1s and 2s on the job
- Send daily reports and photos to the project manager
- Keep job sites clean, organized, and professional every day
- Take care of company tools, vehicles, and materials
- Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and jobsite rules, especially on military bases
What we are looking for
- 3 years of commercial flooring installation experience
- Able to install LVT/LVP, VCT, and carpet tile on your own
- Experience with floor prep and moisture testing
- Can read a floor plan and lay out a job
- Patient enough to teach and clear enough to give direction
- Shows up on time, prepared, and ready to work every scheduled day
- Flexible with scheduling, including occasional nights, weekends, or travel
- U.S. citizen with a valid driver's license
- Able to pass a background check and drug screen (required for base access)
