Purpose: To prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for banquet and catered events at The Sanderling Resort, ensuring exceptional guest service, consistent beverage quality, and adherence to EOS Hospitality and resort standards.

The Sanderling Resort, located in Duck, North Carolina, is the premier oceanfront destination in the Outer Banks, offering refined coastal hospitality, elevated culinary programming, and memorable guest experiences.
The resort’s banquet and catering program includes weddings, corporate events, social gatherings, and seasonal programming across multiple venues including the Sunset Ballroom, Great Hall, Event House, and outdoor event spaces.
The Banquet Bartender plays a key role in delivering high-quality beverage service during events while contributing to a seamless and engaging guest experience.
JOB SUMMARY:
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with established recipes, portioning standards, and presentation guidelines
- Provide professional, friendly, and efficient service to guests at banquet bars and event spaces
- Maintain knowledge of all beverage offerings including cocktails, beer, wine, and event-specific selections
- Set up banquet bar areas according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), including proper placement of equipment, glassware, and product
- Ensure bar areas are clean, organized, and fully stocked prior to and throughout events
- Break down bar areas following events, ensuring proper cleaning, storage, and inventory handling
- Monitor guest consumption and ensure responsible alcohol service in compliance with all applicable laws and company policies
- Verify identification of guests to ensure legal drinking age compliance
- Maintain accurate tracking of beverage consumption for hosted and on-consumption events
- Ensure proper handling of cash, tickets, or billing procedures as required by event specifications
- Work collaboratively with banquet team members, culinary staff, and leadership to ensure efficient service flow
- Communicate effectively regarding timing, guest needs, and event execution
- Assist with event setup and breakdown as needed, including support of banquet operations outside of the bar when required
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all bar and service areas throughout events
- Handle guest concerns professionally and escalate issues to leadership when appropriate
- Maintain a positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards including responsible alcohol service, sanitation practices, and workplace policies
- Attend required meetings and training sessions
- Comply with all policies outlined in the Handbook, Property Supplement, and company guidelines
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- Ability to stand and remain active for up to 10–12 hours
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40–50 lbs, including cases of product and bar equipment
- Ability to move quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced event environment
- Ability to set up and break down bar equipment and banquet spaces
- Ability to navigate stairs and multiple event venues across the resort
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT USED:
- Point of Sale System (when applicable)

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Work will take place across multiple indoor and outdoor event spaces within a resort setting

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- 2 Prior bartending experience required, preferably in banquet, event, or high-volume environments
- Strong knowledge of cocktails, beer, wine, and beverage service standards
- Excellent guest service and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and remain composed under pressure
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality and consistency
- Ability to work as part of a team and support overall event execution
- Knowledge of responsible alcohol service practices and legal requirements
- Ability to perform physical duties including lifting and extended standing
- Successful completion of satisfactory background check
- Available and willing to work flexible hours based on business needs
