We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Temporary Assistant Controller to support our Finance team during a critical period. This full-time, non-benefited position will begin in June and is expected to last approximately 20 weeks. The Temporary Assistant Controller will play an important role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial operations, contributing to key accounting processes, and ensuring timely reporting. Reporting to the Controller, the Temporary Assistant Controller coordinates the internal control, accounting and tax activities of the Academy, including the annual financial statement audit, to provide accurate and useful financial and related data for Academy users. The pay range for this position is $30-$40/hour commensurate with experience.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Oversee the timely and accurate reporting of financial data in accordance with policies, laws, regulations and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Assist with the annual financial statement audit process and preparation of financial statements
- Provide analysis and resolution of complex accounting and GAAP reporting issues
- Supervise general ledger maintenance, and changes to funds and accounts
- Manage cash transactions and controls
- Assist with annual external benchmarking surveys, and Academy data and budget analyses
- Manage and document accounting controls, policies, and procedures, and ensure compliance with auditing standards and external regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with the Manager of Endowment and Infrastructure Accounting to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of depreciable fixed assets, gifts, and endowment data
- Other duties as assigned
Job Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree and/or CPA preferred
- 3 - 5 years’ experience, preferably in not-for-profit industry including a strong understanding of not-for-profit financial statements. Public accounting experience is highly desired
- High degree of professional character and ethical standards in the performance and delegation of duties required
- Demonstrated proficiency and familiarity with a database accounting environment and spreadsheet software fluency
- A high level of integrity and a strong work ethic
- Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills
- Ability to perform detailed research and troubleshooting
- Demonstrated desire and ability to be a team player and collaborate with others successfully
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community;
- Ability to manage, and sensitivity to, highly confidential information
- Close visual acuity to view a computer terminal
- Ability to sustain substantial movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers
