Primary Duties And Responsibilities
Administrative Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with parents/guardians and campus stakeholders about their students’ health status, Academy expectations and Health Center policies.
- Practice, promote, communicate, and model safety in the workplace
- Ensure adequate staffing of the D.S. Chen Health and Wellness Center by coordinating recruitment and orientation through Human Resources, according to Academy Best Practices in Hiring,
- Communicate and serve as liaison with other Academy departments
- Oversee inventory and ordering of clinical supplies and equipment for the Health Center
- Maintain Health Center licensure, Policy and Procedure Manual and Standing Orders, to ensure adherence to best nursing practices and operational requirements and regulations, both state and federal
- Oversee the CDC Influenza Sentinel Site Program to meet governmental standards
- Manage overall work performance, objectives and career development of nurses and Heath Center Assistant including review and development of individual skills
- Manage employee schedules, staffing and training to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the D.S. Chen Health and Wellness Center
- Provide the highest quality direct patient care to students and employees in an effective and collaborative manner, including independent assessment and treatment and all associated collateral work (e.g., communication with parents, guardians, providers and, when appropriate, Academy employees)
- Comply with highest standards of care regarding clinical practice and patient privacy
- Manage the health center’s Subcutaneous Immunotherapy Clinic in coordination with patients’ off-campus medical providers
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree required
- Current RN licensure in Massachusetts
- 5 – 7 years’ Nursing experience, with at least 3 working with adolescents
- Demonstrated supervisory experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills
- Strong initiative and the ability to be self-directed, resourceful and creative
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service orientation
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community
- Ability to manage, and sensitivity to, highly confidential information
- Demonstrated history of possessing patience, compassion and understanding in the delivery of medical services
- Demonstrated technical expertise including Microsoft Office suite, Electronic Health Record systems
- Close visual acuity to view a computer terminal and reports
- Ability to stoop, crouch, kneel, reach, feel and hear
- Ability to frequently bend and lift
- Ability to stand and sit for sustained periods of time
- Ability to climb stairs
- Ability to push, pull and lift up to 50lbs with assistance
