Position Summary
- Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) supports students with behavioral and social-emotional needs by implementing individualized behavior intervention plans under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The RBT helps students develop self-regulation, communication, and positive behavior skills to be successful in the classroom and school community.
- Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as designed by the supervising BCBA
- Provide one-on-one or small group behavioral support to students
- Collect accurate data on student behavior and progress
- Support students with emotional regulation, coping skills, and social skills
- Use positive reinforcement and evidence-based behavioral strategies
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, special education staff, and administrators
- Assist with de-escalation and crisis prevention using approved techniques
- Maintain confidentiality and follow all ethical guidelines
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions
- Support inclusion by helping students remain engaged in the general education setting when appropriate
- Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification required
- High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree in education, psychology, or related field preferred
- Experience working with middle school students preferred
- Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles preferred
- Ability to follow behavior plans with fidelity
- Assist guidance, pupil services staff or building administration, as needed.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.

- Use standard office equipment, such as personal computers and copiers.
- Travel between schools, or between schools and central offices, may be required for certain positions.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform arithmetic operations as needed to assist students.
- Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel).
