We are seeking skilled and experienced Commercial Refrigeration Service Technicians in the Indianapolis area to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in servicing and maintaining refrigeration rack systems in supermarkets and/or grocery stores. The technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various refrigeration and HVAC systems, ensuring optimal functionality and energy efficiency. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and a customer-oriented approach.
DEEM, LLC is a commercial mechanical and electrical company offering HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Refrigeration, Industrial Piping, Building Automation, and Sheet Metal Installation and services. We are centrally located in Indianapolis, Indiana with satellite offices throughout the Midwest down to the southeastern United States.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on refrigeration rack systems, HVAC units, and related equipment in supermarkets and grocery stores.
- Diagnose issues using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques and provide accurate solutions to repair malfunctions in a timely manner.
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair refrigeration components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion valves, and control systems.
- Conduct leak testing and repair refrigerant leaks, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.
- Keep accurate records of service visits, maintenance tasks, and parts used to maintain an up-to-date equipment history.
- Advise clients on proper equipment usage, energy-efficient practices, and maintenance strategies to extend the lifespan of refrigeration and HVAC systems.
- Maintain accurate records of service activities, including work performed, parts used, and maintenance schedules.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing client inquiries, concerns, and feedback professionally and promptly.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a refrigeration technician program or related vocational training is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Refrigeration Service Technician, with a strong understanding of refrigeration principles, components, and systems. At least three years of experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing various types of refrigeration and HVAC systems, including rack systems, walk-in coolers/freezers, and display cases.
- EPA 608 Refrigeration Certification and knowledge of environmental regulations related to refrigerants is required.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing various refrigeration issues.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks requiring lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces.
- Must have a clean driving record and a valid driver’s license.
- Must be willing and able to pass a drug screen and background check.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, on call rotations and travel with overnight stays.
Physical Requirements:
- Work prolonged hours and in confined areas
- Work in extreme temperatures (–20°F to 120°F)
- Wear full PPE (hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, etc.)
- Climb ladders and operate aerial lifts
- Lift/carry 50 lbs (help required for heavier loads)
- Push/pull up to 120 lbs
- Perform physical tasks such as bending, crouching, reaching, and crawling
- Drive using both hands and feet
