QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold MA DESE licensure in music 1-5
- Experience teaching music classes at the 1-5 level
- Ability to direct large choral ensembles
- Knowledge and implementation of audiation-based music teaching
REPORTS TO: Principal and/or Department Chair
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 183 days; Position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Teach general music classes grades 1-5 and direct 4th and 5th grade all-inclusive choruses.
- Attend concerts and performances as needed throughout the year.
- Register and prepare students/ensembles for auditions and festivals as needed.
- Work with Performing Arts colleagues to align curriculum and lessons to established school and district objectives.
- Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Effectively implement district initiatives.
- Effectively collaborate with department and grade level teachers.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
- Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
