What are the responsibilities and job description for the RHC/Pro Fee Medical Coder position at Decatur Health Systems Inc?
Role Description In house position. Responsible for coding Family Practice, ER, and Inpatient diagnoses and procedures using ICD 10 and CPT, reviewing documentation for accuracy, submitting prior authorization requests and assisting with HIM clerical tasks.
Experience preferred; coding certification required within 12 months of hire, with initial progress toward certification expected within the first 6 months.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated Medical Coding and Coding Experience with proficiency in standard coding systems (e.g., ICD, CPT, HCPCS).
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology and Health Information Management principles to accurately interpret clinical documentation.
- Relevant credential such as CPC, CCS, RHIT or similar certification in health information or coding preferred.
- Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to collaborate with clinical and administrative teams and communicate clearly about documentation and coding issues.
- High school diploma required; coding certification or associate degree in Health Information Management or a related field is beneficial.
