Summary:

The employee will be responsible for assisting resident Occupational Therapists. Primary duties include completing occupational therapy treatments, patient/family education, clerical work, and supervisory work. The employee normally performs the duty assignments after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. The assignment is reviewed upon completion.

Work Schedule:

May work 8 to 10-hour days between the hours of 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. On-call and Holiday coverage on a PRN basis. Must be able to work non-standard hours, including evenings and weekends.

Associates degree (two-year college or technical school)

Experience

Six months to one-year related experience

Computer Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office, email and basic computer skills for other software used throughout the hospital for your area of responsibility.

Certificates & Licenses

Must possess a valid Indiana driver's license and have a good driving record. Current State of Indiana COTA license required. BLS certification is also required.

Other Requirements

Eighteen (18) hours of continuing competency are required for each license renewal period. This position requires frequent standing, walking, crawling, squatting, kneeling, bending, use of hands and fingers, lifting and carrying 0–50 lbs and pushing or pulling 0–25 lbs.

Essential Functions
- Follow the Occupational Therapist's specified plan of treatment to administer treatment that will achieve patient and physician goals.
- Will demonstrate good time management skills in order to provide good customer service and enhance productivity.
- Report any adverse reaction to treatment to the Physical Therapist.
- Check patient's status prior to each treatment and document any significant changes.
- Will provide accurate and timely documentation according to state and federal guidelines and payer requirements.
- Submits billing accurately on a daily basis.
- Assist in Accrediting Agency preparation and State Board of Health survey and interviews.
- Will give at least one educational presentation to members of other hospital departments, support groups, or other community organizations.
- Be available for call-ins when scheduled.
- Will performance at least two peer chart reviews per year.
- Will participate in at least two marketing efforts for his/her designated profession and/or Rehabilitation Services.
- Will attend 80% of departmental monthly meetings.
