What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water Mitigation Technician position at DEC Fire & Water Restoration?
DEC is a Birmingham based, family-owned restoration company specializing in the water and sewer damage cleanup of people's homes. We're a 24/7/365 emergency response business, so we have to be available when the call comes in. To be fair, the majority of our work happens between 8-5 Monday thru Friday, but the after-hours calls do come in, and we have to be available to go when people need us. You will never have to worry about marketing or selling. This is a Water Mitigation Technician position. If you don't know what that means, but you're willing to work hard, we'll train you. Bonuses paid weekly for after-hours jobs.
We get called to over 100 homes a month, with 20-25 new jobs coming in each week. Everyday is a new surprise for what we'll see. You definitely won't get bored behind a desk with this job.
We need someone that will show up on time, be there when we need them, and willing to learn. If you have IICRC credentials and/or previous experience in this industry, we will definitely look at that favorably...but it's not a requirement.
Important: You must be able to pass an MVR background check by our insurance company. They determine who can drive our vehicles, so, with your permission, we will run an MVR first to make sure you can drive for us. If you have multiple speeding tickets and wrecks in the last three years, no need applying.
Some of the things that ARE a requirement for this position include:
- Valid driver's license
- Pass a criminal background check
- Pass a drug screen
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
- Positive attitude (please, no drama)
- Must be able to wear PPE when required (Tyvek suit, mask, gloves, etc...)
- Must be willing to work in a crawlspace or attic (wherever the job takes us)
- Must have some tablet/phone skills (email, texting, pictures, etc.)
- Show up to work on time and be willing to work overtime if needed.
