Dead Level Construction is looking for a reliable Deck Construction Laborer / Carpenter Helper to join our small residential construction crew. We specialize primarily in decks, porches, stairs, railings, and other exterior carpentry projects throughout Orange County, NY.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in their work, and wants to learn carpentry and residential construction. Previous construction experience is helpful, but we're willing to train the right person. Reliability, work ethic, and willingness to learn are more important than extensive experience.
Responsibilities include:
- Moving and organizing lumber and building materials
- Jobsite setup and cleanup
- Demolition and debris removal
- Assisting with deck framing, decking, railings, and stairs
- Using basic hand and power tools
- Digging, concrete work, and general construction labor
- Learning carpentry skills and taking on more responsibility as experience grows
What we're looking for:
- Dependable and able to consistently show up on time
- Comfortable performing physical work outdoors
- Willing to learn and take direction
- Able to safely lift and move construction materials
- Basic tool or construction experience is a plus
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Pay: Starting at $20/hour, with higher starting pay available based on relevant experience and opportunities for increases as skills and responsibilities grow.
Schedule: Typically four 8-hour workdays, approximately 32 hours per week. Hours may vary based on project workload, weather, and season. Winter work is not guaranteed.
