This role is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the overall operations of the Resident Care Department in accordance with current state and local regulations as well as community policies and procedures. Assures that services of all residents are delivered according to NEDA policies and procedures. Participates in the interviewing and selection of residents and personnel for the Resident Care Department in conjunction with the Garden’s Director.

QUALIFICATIONS & LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a Licensed Nurse with a current Massachusetts license. Must have graduated from an accredited nursing school. Maintains current CPR certification. Minimum of three years of nursing experience preferable in Assisted Living or Long-term care and two years of supervisory/management experience. Knowledge of Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act and EOEA Regulations for Assisted Living. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all personnel; possesses qualities of integrity, compassion, empathy and is able to communicate effectively with residents and their families. Ability to work independently; ability to make appropriate decisions quickly during times of an emergency. Normally required to be standing and walking during most of the work period and be able to support residents, using proper body mechanics and equipment. Must be able to balance, climb stairs, crouch, grasp, kneel, pull, push, reach and stoop in the course of caring for the residents. May be exposed to blood borne pathogens, and must know how to deal safely with spills of blood and other body fluids. Must also be able to feel, hear, see and smell.
