Position Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all production equipment as well as meeting the regulatory requirements. Proposes and leads projects to upgrade equipment/facilities consistent with company goals and government regulations. Participates in the preparation and monitoring of the department budget, hires and manages required maintenance staff to meet or exceed goals in the area of safety, food safety, quality, morale, productivity, cost, and service. Oversees the processes for their assigned shift and the department. Will assist other departments on any issues that arise.
Essential Job Functions
- Develops and implements required equipment preventative maintenance programs and monitors execution of it. Ensures that personnel are assigned to repair requests and that repairs are completed in a timely and effective manner.
- Leads projects involving the installation, modification or renovation of equipment and facilities. Monitors project timelines and advises appropriate management on status. Implements strategies to upgrade the equipment and facility relating to improvements for efficiency, safety and reliability.
- Collaborates with suppliers, contractors and other involved parties to ensure customer needs and plant strategic goals are met.
- Hires, trains and develops required maintenance staff. Supervises and implements training for employees on proper Good Manufacturing Practice’s (GMP’s), Lock-out/tag-out, HACCP, HAZCOM, and other safety training.
- Participates in the development of maintenance expense and capital budgets. Orders expense maintenance supplies and controls costs as required.
- Administers all plant policies, rules, and government regulations fairly and consistently.
- Works with all levels of plant management to assure plant goals are supported as needed to deliver facility goals including quality, safety, efficiency, sanitation, productivity, morale, and cost.
- Works with Supports Plant Safety program through participation in the facility safety team and effective execution of actionable items.
- Develops and implements training for maintenance supervisors to better equip them for their daily tasks
- Works with maintenance manager to develop the organization chart as well as the overall structure of the department.
Education/Training:
Required:
- HS degree or equivalent
Preferred:
- BA/BS in Engineering or technical field
Required:
- 4 - 7 years related experience (maintenance and supervisor responsibilities)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office products & CMMS Systems
- Leadership, training and coaching skills
- Working knowledge of FDA, OSHA and environmental food manufacturing standards
- Excellent analytical and judgment skills
- Excellent prioritization skills and ability to deal with ambiguity
Preferred:
- 5 -8 years related experience (maintenance and supervisor responsibilities)
- Food manufacturing experience
- Management experience with a computerized preventative maintenance program
Shift: Normal assigned shift. There is flexibility to work on-call, off shift, and extended coverage as needed.
Travel Required: Some travel
Salary : $75,000 - $80,000
