Production Lab Technician - 2nd Shift

Technicians work with various salts and solvents to create coating solutions within specifications provided by a written procedure.

Job duties include:

• Prepare developmental coatings from lists of raw ingredients and concentrations as supplied
• Calculate consumption (Excel) and charge out coating solutions to production jobs
• Monitor coating solution inventory for production
• Prepare coating samples and raw materials for shipment
• Perform quality assurance inspection of solutions and raw materials
• Reconstitution of solutions to standard concentrations by analysis of the specific gravity.
• Follow lab housekeeping practices and maintain lab and storage areas in a clean and orderly fashion
• Follow the preparation schedule for solutions
• Determine the amount of raw materials required for a day, both salts and solvents
• Proactively verify that all production areas have enough solution to make it through at least two shifts. If not, be able to determine the amount needed and prepare it to ensure production does not stop due to solution shortages
• Understand the importance of calibration for the scales. Recognize when a calibration issue is occurring and know what to do if an issue does occur.
• Understand the use and precision/accuracy restrictions of various key pieces of lab equipment, such as: scales, volumetric flasks, beakers, pipettes, etc.
• Able to follow written work instructions
• Able to use a drum handler

Experience:

• HS Diploma or equivalent mandatory, Associates degree or higher a plus.
• 1-2 years’ experience in a manufacturing lab. Follow safe lab practices and procedures.
• Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook.
• Strong background in Chemistry is beneficial
• Math skills required
• Must maintain confidentiality
• May need to work additional hours to meet job deadlines
• Must be able to work 2nd shift as this is an off-shift position
