Position Summary
The Strategic Accounts & Funding Manager develops and advances strategic growth opportunities by connecting client priorities, public funding pathways, government and economic development relationships, and DDG’s technical capabilities. The role shapes opportunities before procurement, strengthens priority accounts, provides funding intelligence, and supports disciplined conversion of qualified opportunities into profitable work
Role Scope
▪ Strategic account development and relationship expansion within assigned public-sector, infrastructure, economic development, and industry ecosystems.
▪ Funding intelligence, funding-readiness strategy, grant and appropriations positioning, and early project shaping.
▪ Government, agency, legislative, congressional, planning-district, port, utility, and economic development relationships conducted in accordance with applicable law and DDG policy.
▪ Qualified opportunity origination and coordinated handoff into the governed pipeline through the Stage 0 Gate.
▪ Cross-service collaboration connecting client needs and funding paths to DDG’s surveying, engineering, architecture, program management, specialty engineering, and landscape architecture capabilities.
Qualifications
Minimum
▪ Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, communications, economic development, planning, government affairs, finance, engineering, or a related field — or an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience.
▪ Substantial progressive experience in strategic account development, economic development, public administration, government relations, infrastructure funding, or business development.
▪ Demonstrated experience with public-sector, agency, utility, port, economic development, infrastructure, or industry stakeholders.
▪ Working knowledge of public funding programs, appropriations, capital-program development, grant lifecycles, and government decision processes.
▪ Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships, facilitate complex stakeholder discussions, prepare executive-ready materials, and convert intelligence into coordinated action.
▪ Strong written, verbal, presentation, research, planning, organization, and follow-through skills; CRM and Microsoft 365 proficiency with strong data discipline.
▪ Ability to travel and attend occasional early-morning, evening, or weekend meetings and events.
Preferred
▪ A record of securing and administering significant public funding — federal, state, and private grant and appropriations sources (e.g., federal railroad, commerce/EDA, justice, restoration funds, state development authority, DFA, DOT programs).
▪ Experience shaping or advancing infrastructure, economic development, transportation, utility, port, resilience, community-facility, or industrial projects, including major private-sector recruitment.
▪ Established relationships within DDG target markets — state legislative leadership, agency and appointed officials, planning and development districts, and county and parish governments — subject to conflict, ethics, and procurement review.
▪ Experience coordinating federal congressional engagement — delegation visits, appropriations priorities, and program offices (e.g., THUD, COPS, FEMA).
▪ Public information and crisis communications experience; comfort with media, public presentations, and community-facing events.
▪ Experience supporting qualifications-based selection, proposals, interviews, or account-based growth in professional services.
