We are seeking a Part-Time Nurse Practitioner to join our experienced team of gastroenterologists and healthcare professionals.
Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner will provide care to patients with acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions in both outpatient and hospital settings. The position involves patient evaluations, diagnosis and treatment, follow-up care, hospital consultations, and inpatient rounding in collaboration with our gastroenterologists.
The ideal candidate is clinically skilled, compassionate, organized, and comfortable working in a collaborative medical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with gastrointestinal conditions in outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical examinations and review of diagnostic testing.
- Develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, and coordinate appropriate follow-up care.
- Participate in hospital rounds, inpatient consultations, and ongoing management of hospitalized patients.
- Collaborate with gastroenterologists, hospitalists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients regarding diagnoses, medications, procedures, and lifestyle modifications.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records.
- Coordinate diagnostic testing, referrals, procedures, and discharge planning as needed.
- Provide coverage at assigned DDCA offices and affiliated hospitals, including one half-day Saturday clinic per month.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current, unrestricted Florida Nurse Practitioner license and national board certification.
- Current BLS certification.
- Eligibility for hospital credentialing and clinical privileges, as applicable.
- Strong clinical assessment, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Commitment to professionalism, teamwork, and patient-centered care.
- Willingness to travel among practice locations and affiliated hospitals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in gastroenterology, internal medicine, family medicine, hospital medicine, or a related specialty.
- Previous hospital rounding or inpatient care experience.
- Familiarity with electronic health records and clinical documentation.
Prior gastroenterology experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with strong clinical backgrounds and an interest in gastroenterology are encouraged to apply.
Work Schedule
- Hours: Approximately 25–30 hours per week.
- Outpatient Care: Scheduled clinic coverage at DDCA locations.
- Hospital Rounding: Inpatient rounds and GI consultations at affiliated hospitals.
- Saturday Coverage: One half-day Saturday clinic per month.
- Flexibility: Specific weekday schedules and responsibilities will be mutually agreed upon.
