Estimator – Underground Wet Utilities

We’re looking for an experienced Estimator who knows underground wet utilities inside and out. This role is focused on producing accurate, competitive estimates for storm drain, sanitary sewer, and water system projects across both public works and private development.

This role is ideal for an Estimator who wants to grow their career as part of a collaborative, high-performing group where their work directly impacts project success. You’ll play a key role in bidding complex infrastructure projects while working alongside a team that values accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs for underground wet utility systems (storm, sewer, water)
• Build and manage bids using HCSS HeavyBid
• Review civil plans, specs, and profiles with a focus on utility infrastructure
• Develop material takeoffs and cost estimates for pipe, structures, and related components
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
• Analyze pricing and ensure complete, competitive coverage of project scope
• Collaborate closely with a team-oriented estimating group on multiple bids
• Support related scopes (grading, paving, concrete) as needed

What You Bring

• 3 years of estimating experience in heavy civil underground wet utilities (required)
• Strong background in storm drain, sanitary sewer, and water systems
• Ability to interpret plans, trenching/shoring requirements, and installation sequencing
• Experience with HeavyBid, On-Screen Takeoff, Agtek, or similar software preferred
• Solid understanding of production rates, cost structures, and subcontractor management
• Familiarity with municipal standards and delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, CMAR, JOC)
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
• Knowledge of the Arizona market is a plus
• A proactive mindset and interest in growing into expanded responsibilities over time

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience preferred

Work Environment

This is a full-time, in-office role, working closely with the estimating team and leadership.
