Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive construction cost estimates by reviewing project plans, specifications, and bid documents using industry-standard software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam.
- Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs and pricing analysis to determine accurate project costs.
- Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to negotiate prices and secure competitive bids.
- Prepare bid proposals that include scope of work, cost breakdowns, and schedules aligned with project requirements.
- Monitor project budgets throughout the bidding process and provide recommendations for cost control measures.
- Assist in contract negotiations by reviewing terms, scope changes, and ensuring compliance with project specifications.
- Support project management teams during construction by providing cost updates, change order evaluations, and risk assessments based on site conditions and progress.
- Maintain detailed records of estimates, contracts, and correspondence to ensure transparency and accountability across all phases of the project.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a strong understanding of construction management processes.
- Familiarity with estimating software such as HeavyBid or equivalent tools is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam or similar digital markup tools.
- Solid knowledge of construction site operations, contracts, pricing strategies, and cost control techniques.
- Experience negotiating with vendors, subcontractors, and clients to achieve favorable terms while maintaining quality standards.
- Background in managing multiple projects simultaneously with excellent organizational skills.
- Construction site experience is a plus, providing insight into on-the-ground realities that influence estimates.
