What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Operator 1 position at DBY Mining?
Job Overview
The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment, such as 980 Cat front end loaders and excavators depending upon the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Prior heavy equipment operator experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform pre-shift equipment inspections.
- Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform preventative maintenance, such as greasing and topping off fluid levels.
- Assist with crushing plant maintenance and housekeeping, such as shoveling spillages and greasing machinery.
- Assist with crushing plant repairs, such as splicing belts and changing screens.
- Follow safety rules, such as lock out – tag out procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience
- Prior heavy equipment experience in a mining environment preferred.
- Ability to climb ladders, lift & carry heavy loads, and perform manual labor tasks.
Work Environment
- Work will occur at a sand and gravel pit.
- Work environment may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, chemicals, risk of electric shock, dust, the elements, and elevated noise levels.
