What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welder - 1st Shift - L4 position at Dayton-Phoenix Group, Inc.?
The position of Welder will be responsible for the assembly, weld and inspection of various fabricated assemblies and subassemblies. Responsibilities include measuring, layout, welding, copper bar rotor assembly & brazing, grinding, and inspection.
Essential Qualifications For This Position Include
Candidates must demonstrate during the trial period, the ability to perform the above listed responsibilities while producing quality parts, to print, at the routed rate and in a safe manner while maintaining accuracy of counts, and part numbers. The progress of any candidates selected for this posting shall be evaluated during the trial period to assure that the job requirements are being met.
Essential Qualifications For This Position Include
- Previous welding set-up and operation experience preferred
- Understand mechanical/welding blueprints and welding symbols
- Ability to read a tape measure
- Ability to use hand tools and hand grinders as required
- Possess basic shop math skills for decimals and fractions
- Pass welding and brazing tests as required
- Able to produce high quality welds and brazed connections
- Ability to work in a hot environment, while wearing full-length pants and long sleeve shirts that are part of the welding uniform and safety equipment
- The candidate must pass DPG weld qualification testing during the probation period. This certification is required to retain the position. If unable to pass the test during the trial period, the candidate will be assigned to their previous position with their previous wage.
- Follow BOM’s and process specifications
- Ability to life and handle up to 40 lbs
- Able to use overhead power cranes
- Is a certified forklift operator
- Is safety orientated and follows shop rules
