Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve balanced, kid-friendly meals and snacks in accordance with dietary guidelines and menu plans
- Assist with menu planning to ensure variety, nutritional value, and adherence to dietary restrictions
- Maintain strict food safety standards by following sanitizing procedures, proper food handling, and storage protocols
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, stoves, mixers, and food preparation tools
- Clean and sanitize all kitchen surfaces, utensils, dining areas, and common spaces regularly to uphold hygiene standards
- Support food production during high-volume meal times while adhering to recipe specifications and portion control
- Assist with basic cleaning duties around the daycare facility to ensure a safe, tidy environment for children and staff
Requirements
- Previous experience as a dietary aide or in a food service role within a childcare or educational setting preferred
- Knowledge of food safety management practices, sanitizing procedures, and proper food handling techniques
- Experience with menu planning, meal preparation, and cooking methods such as poaching, braising, grilling, and food production processes
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely in a high-volume environment
- Strong knife skills and culinary experience across various cooking styles within the food industry or restaurant settings
- Ability to follow recipes accurately while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
