We’re looking for an Intern, Quality Engineer to join our Day & Zimmermann team located in Texarkana, TX. The Intern, Engineer will continuously improve processes and systems under mentorship with a seasoned employee and meet customer needs, both internal and external. The internship tasks will be focused in the area in line with your education and ability. Interns, will be partnered with an experienced employee in their degree path and will make a presentation on their learning at the completion of their internship to company department heads.

As the Intern, Quality Engineer, here’s the work you’ll do:

• Provide support to the Quality Engineering team while learning and promoting workplace safety practices. Assist with projects focused on building quality into products and improving manufacturing processes through preventive methods.
• Recommends and supports continuous improvement projects using structured, team problem solving strategies and methods. Implements preventive actions, optimize processes to prevent critical and other defects. Uses statistical methods to improve process capability, stability and reliability.
• Support corrective action activities by assisting with data collection, root cause analysis, documentation, and tracking of corrective and preventive action.
• Assist with reviewing technical documents such as drawings, specifications, change requests, and procedures, and help generate or update quality-related documentation. Support the tracking and reporting of quality metrics for the business unit and help communicate quality information across the organization.
• Gain exposure to Quality Planning activities by assisting with tools such as Initial Quality Planning (IQP), FMEA, and Control Plans. Support data collection, testing activities, and measurement studies under the guidance of experienced Quality Engineers and team leads.
  
  

This role is for you if you have these skills:

• Ability to read and understand business and technical materials, assist with writing reports and basic procedures, and comfortably present information in team or project settings.
• Basic understanding of mathematical and statistical concepts, with the ability to apply them to tasks such as data analysis, sampling, and evaluating test results, with mentoring and training.
• Ability to help define problems, collect and organize data, and assist in drawing conclusions based on facts and analysis. Capable of interpreting technical instructions, drawings, charts, and diagrams, and working with both abstract and practical information.
• Coursework or foundational knowledge of quality systems and continuous improvement tools (such as ISO-based systems, SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, or DOE concepts) is preferred, with the expectation to learn and apply these tools during the internship.
• Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills and a willingness to learn and develop professionally.
  
  

And If You Have These Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or Quality, or Science, with a 3.0 or higher GPA.
• Junior/Senior college level preferred
• Great attitude and team player.
• Successful completion of background and drug screening process.

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $22/hr - $24/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
