What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher Assistant position at Day Care?
We are currently seeking an immediate hire for a full-time Teacher Assistant who is passionate about working with young children and eager to grow in the field of Early Childhood Education. This position offers hands-on experience in a supportive and nurturing environment with opportunities for professional development.
Schedule: Shifts typically fall between 7:30 AM – 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
Schedules may vary — some days may be morning shifts (8:00 AM – 1:00 PM), some afternoon shifts (1:00 PM – 6:00 PM), and others full-day shifts as needed.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist lead teachers in planning and implementing daily lessons and activities
- Supervise and engage children in a safe, nurturing, and positive environment
- Support with meal and snack times, diapering, and toileting routines as needed
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom
- Observe and report child behavior or developmental concerns to the lead teacher
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and licensing regulations
- Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and children
Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years old
- High school diploma or GED required
- Prior experience working with young children in a daycare or preschool is preferred
- Must pass all required background checks and medical clearances
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Reliable, caring, and enthusiastic about early childhood education
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and actively participate in classroom activities
