HVAC/Mechanical Designer

HVAC/Mechanical Designer opportunity in Frederick, MD with a fast-moving architectural services team focused on high-quality construction documentation, collaborative 3D BIM workflows, and code-compliant homebuilding projects. If you enjoy working across design and engineering, producing load calculations, and coordinating with multiple departments to get projects across the finish line, this role is built for you.

Qualifications and responsibilities for this HVAC/Mechanical Designer position include:

• Develop detailed HVAC system designs, specifications, and load calculations in compliance with current codes.
• Complete project work independently in at least two relevant disciplines, including design, engineering, HVAC, code & engineering, fabrication, architecture, or estimating.
• Independently perform load calculations and support duct sizing (including Manual J, S, and D).
• Collaborate with architectural and engineering team members to ensure timely project completion and maintain schedules.
• Coordinate with other departments and consult with structural and mechanical engineering experts as needed.
• Support homebuilding personnel with permitting and inspection challenges to ensure seamless project execution.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including recording hours worked.

Salary: $75,000 - $82,000 per year for the engineering specialist role; $55,000 - $65,000 per year for a more junior technician role (2 years experience or similar).
