Job Description

Job Summary: Davison County is currently seeking a Part-Time Corrections Officer to join our team at the Davison County Jail in Mitchell, SD. The Part-Time Corrections Officer will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the inmates and staff at the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor inmates in the facility
- Enforce rules and regulations within the jail
- Conduct headcounts and inspections of inmates and their living areas
- Respond to emergencies and incidents within the facility
- Escort inmates to court appearances and other appointments
- Assist with the intake and release process of inmates
- Complete necessary paperwork and reports as required
- Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure the smooth operation of the facility
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations
- Previous experience in corrections or law enforcement is preferred
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects
