Davis Wright Tremaine LLP seeks a junior level associate in Washington, D.C. to join its robust Employment Services practice. The associate will work closely with partners in complex employment litigation matters in federal and state courts, as well as administrative proceedings. The role offers the opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility while developing litigation skills in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support all phases of employment litigation, including case assessment, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, motions, and briefs
  • Manage and review document productions and assist with discovery strategy
  • Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, mediations, and court appearances
  • Assist with witness preparation and trial preparation, including exhibit and briefing support
  • Collaborate with partners and associates on litigation strategy and case management
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding case status, strategy, and developments
  • Monitor developments in employment law and assist with internal knowledge sharing

Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Admission to practice in the relevant U.S. jurisdiction
  • Minimum of 2 years of employment litigation or comparable litigation experience
  • Experience handling discovery, drafting motions, and conducting legal research
  • Strong writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated interest in employment law and representing employers

The annualized salary range for this position in Washington, D.C. is $205,000 - $330,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on the candidate’s education, training, experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a bonus and health insurance with an optional HSA, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401(k), vacation, sick time, 10 paid holidays each year and an employee assistance program. For full-time employees, the initial sick leave benefit is 80 hours of sick leave per year. Attorneys generally take approximately three weeks of vacation from work each year, and it may vary depending on the needs of the clients and the firm. Additional voluntary benefits programs include: voluntary accident insurance, voluntary life, voluntary disability, voluntary long-term care, and pet insurance. Commuter and Transit programs are also available.
