This position is located at the Utah Department of Corrections in Salt Lake City. Supports the College Mission to serve students, employers, and the College community. Provides leadership and quality job skills training in a safe, clean environment. Maintains a positive and productive learning environment by working collaboratively with students, staff, faculty, and College partners.
8 am - 3 pm; 4 days a week

Instruction and Student Learning
- Instructs students in accordance with the approved course curriculum, learning outcomes, and assessment methods.
- Evaluates student learning and provides timely, constructive feedback to support skill development and mastery while maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of attendance, student progress, and grades in the designated student information system.
- Fosters a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages teamwork, communication, and accountability.
- Promotes professionalism, job readiness, and employability skills.
- Advises students on appropriate course selection, program completion, and graduation requirements.
- Addresses and resolve issues that impact student success, collaborating with Student Services or UDC staff as needed.
Compliance, Security and Classroom Management
- Abides by all Utah Department of Corrections and Davis Technical College security policies, procedures, and facility protocols at all times.
- Maintains professional boundaries and adhere to institutional codes of conduct.
- Supports a safe and orderly learning environment consistent with UDC expectations and College policies.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe training area while ensuring adequate instructional supplies and monitoring the proper use of materials and equipment.
- Orients new students to classroom procedures, safety standards, performance expectations, and facility-specific rules.
Collaboration and Communication
- Communicate regularly with program faculty, College administration, and support personnel regarding student progress and program needs.
- Participate in departmental initiatives such as curriculum review, accreditation activities, and program evaluation.
- Requires graduation from High School or equivalent;
- Must have a minimum of (1) year of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the appropriate area of substitution, including Business Technology, Automotive, Maintenance, Welding, and Machining.
- Appropriate technical expertise and experience in the field/topic to be presented.
- Certifications appropriate for the course preferred.
- Requires strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Prior teaching experience desired.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate Degree in a related field preferred.
- Prior teaching experience and teaching credentials.
